War Of The Bounty Hunters Comic Event

After a teaser image was released yesterday, today StarWars.com revealed details on a new interconnecting story starring our favorite (ok, at least my favorite) bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Leading this effort is veteran Star Wars writer and one of the leads of The High Republic writers group, Charles Soule.

The crossover event, titled War of the Bounty Hunters, will be Marvel biggest Star Wars story to date and it will follow Boba Fett as he tries to deliver Han Solo from the carbonite chamber in Cloud City to Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Tatooine.

War of the Bounty Hunters will run from May to October and will have Fett crossing path with some of the most notorious characters in the galaxy as they all want to get their hands on Solo for their own nefarious purpose. This event will spill into Marvel’s post Star Wars: The Empire Strikes back storyline to include Star Wars, Bounty Hunters, Darth Vader, and Doctor Aphra.

Although it kicks off with Charles Soule and artist Steve McNiven’s War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha #1 on May 5^th, other Star Wars comic book writers and artist will play in the sandbox. Some of these creators are Greg Pak (Darth Vader), Alyssa Wong (Doctor Aphra), and Ethan Sacks (Bounty Hunters).

Boba Fett is going through a resurgence starting with his re-introduction in last year’s The Mandalorian Disney Plus series and now with his own overarching comic event. The premise behind this story is interesting as it starts with Fett having lost Han Solo and needing to get him back so that he can deliver him to Jabba and collect his bounty. I am always in favor of more Boba Fett stories that expand his character and having Charles Soule come up with the story treatment for it (an idea he’s had since 2019) is extremely exciting.
