If you want a break from The High Republic and are yearning for new stories about familiar characters, then fret not. Today the official Star Wars website revealed four new books that will be releasing middle of next year which are sure to keep all reader types entertained during the summer months.
Shadow of the Sith
Author Adam Christopher was poised to write an original novel set in the Mandalorian time period but that was surprisingly canceled earlier this year. Not to worry, Adam is back with Shadows of the Sith that finds Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and Rebellion hero, Lando Carlrissian on the search for Exegol and Lando’s missing daughter.
Luke is plagued with visions of the dark while Lando crosses path with Ochi of Bestoon, a Sith assassin known for kidnapping young girls.
Ochi has been tasked by Sith Eternals to find a mythical blade and bring the daughter of Darth Sidious to the mysterious planet.
Shadow of the Sith, by Del Rey, will release June 28, 2022.
Brotherhood
If you love the Clone Wars time period and want to keep diving into the stories set before the Fall of the Republic and rise of the Empire, Mike Chen has the story for you. Brotherhood pairs Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his former Padawan turned Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker in a new adventure.
As “The Negotiator“, Kenobi is sent to Cato Neimoidia to investigate a bombing on the Trade Federation planet as they have blamed the Republic for the incident. Anakin joins the adventure, with a conflicted youngling in tow.
Asajj Ventress handiwork is sensed by Kenobi while his relationship with Anakin needs to grow from Master/Padawan to brothers in the Force.
Look for Brotherhood (also from Del Rey) on May 10, 2022.
Stories of Jedi and Sith
Disney Lucasfilm Press brings the middle grade anthology series Stories of Jedi and Sith which tells ten new stories from some of our favorite saga character. Written by new and familiar Star Wars authors (Delilah S. Dawson, Roseanne A. Brown, Michael Kogge, Alex Segura, Karen Strong, and others), readers will get to see Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Asajj Ventress and more of their favorite go on new adventures.
Illustrated by Jake Bartok and edited by Jennifer Heddle, Stories of Jedi and Sith will be released June 7, 2022.
Padawan
You like Obi-Wan? So do we. Making his third appearance on this news release, a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, newly minted as a Padawan to great Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, is frustrated by his lack of Jedi-ing.
His friends are off training to be real Jedi while he is kept on the Temple on Coruscant, practicing forms and meditation. Meanwhile, Master Jinn spends more time arguing with the Jedi Council than being a proper teacher to his Padawan.
When the opportunity to go on a mission presents itself, Kenobi jumps at it and embarks on an adventure that has him on a mysterious planet and connecting with other young, Force-adept kids on a journey that will test his connection to the Jedi and the Force.
Written by Kiersten White, Disney Lucasfilm Press will release Padawan on July 26, 2022.
A lot of great new Star Wars adventure awaits us next year.
