The world seemed so different 365 days ago, not just the real world but the Star Wars galaxy as well. It was at this time in 2021 when we were first introduced to the High Republic. An era of expansion in the galaxy, heroic Jedi knights and terrible adversaries that were just trying to maintain their way of life. And some sentient carnivorous plants that only cared about meat.

Fast-forward to now and we have been blessed by the joy (and a lot of sadness) that is The High Republic, Star Wars publishing juggernaut. Led by five amazing authors (Charles Soule, Cavan Scott, Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland and Daniel Jose Older) and many great and talented people behind the scenes, we have reached the one year anniversary and conclusion to Phase 1 (of 3).

On today’s Star Wars The High Republic Anniversary Special, host Krystina Arielle spoke with all five authors and got a few interesting tidbits on what to expect for Phase 2, Quest of the Jedi, starting with its release date, October 2022.

Cavan Scott: Is working on the Phase 2 comic book.

Charles Soule: Very excited to be working on a story about The Blade of Bardotta, Porter Engle.

Daniel Jose Older: Writing an original graphic novel.

Justina Ireland: Collaborating with Tessa Gratton on the first Young Adult novel for Phase 2

Claudia Gray: Added that Phase 2 is an era of exploration and invention

The biggest reveal of the anniversary special was that Phase 2, Quest of the Jedi will take place 150 years in the past. This is a bold move that changes everything we’ve experienced so far in The High Republic.

We also learned that joining the five aforementioned authors are four more talented writers that are bringing their talent to The High Republic.

Zoraida Cordova (Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View), Tessa Gratton (The Queens of Innis Lear), George Mann (Star Wars: Myths and Fables) and Lydia Kang (Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View) will all write novels for Phase 2 of The High Republic.

I love the diversity that The High Republic keeps bringing to their authors and their stories. October can’t get here fast enough.
